Leo Delibes, Flower Duet
Premiered in Paris in 1883, this was originally a duet for soprano and mezzo-soprano from the opera Lakme. Here is a beautiful orchestral version for you.

Emile Waldteufel, The Skaters' Waltz
Composed in 1882, this was inspired by the rink of skaters at the Bois de Boulogne in Paris - instantly recognisable!

Leroy Anderson, 'Sleigh Ride'
Finished in February 1948, the Ronettes recorded a cover for Phil Spectre in 1963 and it has since become a Christmas classic.

Robert Schumann, 1st Symphony in B major, Op.38 (1841), 'Spring Symphony'
Four movements: Andante un poco maestose; Larghetto; Scherzo; Allegro animato e grazioso
When he had written his symphony, Schumann wrote imploringly, "Could you breathe a little of the longing for spring into your orchestra as they play?" The premier was conducted by Felix Mendelssohn.
