2019 Strings 'Play-For-A-Day'
Saturday, 19th October
Newent Community Centre, Ross Road, Newent GL18 1BD (see map) 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Members of the Newent Orchestra invite other players to join them for this day exploring and playing a selection of music for strings, conducted by Bill Anderton. £10 (members, £8) Book by using the form opposite. Pay on the day. Music and tea/coffee will be provided – just bring your music stand and a packed lunch. There is ample car parking and local shops; cafes and pubs will be open during your lunch break. Music for the day:The Play-For-A-Day music contains a wealth of interest to string players in terms of style, technique and ensemble playing. Take this opportunity to improve your sight reading and enjoy some great music in a friendly supportive atmosphere.
All the music will be available on the day, but some music (not arrangements) is available for free download from www.imslp.org.
Concerto XII in C, T. Albinoni Palladio (Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra), Carl Jenkins Serenade for Strings (Andante, Largetto & Finale), Dvorak I Was Never Kissed Before, arr. Bill Anderton Happy Days & Lonely Nights, arr. Bill Anderton Canzonetta for Strings (from 'Kuolema'), Sibelius Bach, Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in G Major All ages and abilities welcome.
