Members of the Newent Orchestra invite other players to join us for this day exploring some wonderful music just for strings, conducted by Toby Lazenbury:
To download your free music part from the Petrucci Library (imslp.org), click on each title and then find your part. NB, the Louis Vierne pieces will only be available on the day. (See short video about using this library website.) See below for some more guidance:
Music Downloads Grieg: scroll down to the 'Arrangements and Transcriptions' tab then find the heading 'For Strings (Composer)'. The second option under this heading is the cleanest score.
Parry: under the 'Parts' tab, under the heading 'Complete Version', second option down is the cleanest score.
Vierne: this will only be available on the day.
Sibelius: under 'Parts' choose Canzonetta (No. 1).
Bach: under the 'Parts' tab, choose the first version, publisher Bach-Gesellschaft Ausgabe/Breitkopf

We'll be playing in the incredible venue of Newent's historic medieval church, which dates back to the 13th century, with its soaring spire, stained glass, historic atmosphere - and sparkling acoustics.

This will be a church open day, so that members of the public will be able to visit the church during the day and listen to our rehearsal while they browse.
Bring your music stand and a packed lunch. There is ample car parking, and local shops, cafes and pubs will be open during the lunch break. Tea/coffee refreshments will be included.
