New Members - Our Policy

There are no formal auditions, but there is an informal assessment period of up to four weeks for you and us to decide if membership is appropriate.  Taking part at rehearsals is for all players, however, concert performances require meeting an appropriate playing standard.

Currently, we are particularly seeking members for the following sections: Violin; Viola; Horn

You can also request to receive our monthly email newsletter, containing updates on concerts, tickets, workshops, reviews and all the gossip: click HERE to subscribe.

The Newent Orchestra is a community orchestra made up of amateur players from around the county.

Membership is £20.00 per annum, £10.00 for under 18s.
With 30 rehearsals a year, this works out at less than 70p per rehearsal.

Concerts are arranged at local venues and the orchestra rehearses between September and May.  Rehearsals take place weekly at the Newent Centre, Ross Road, Saturdays, from 10.00 to 12.00 midday.

Friends of the Newent Orchestra

Would you like to become a "Friend of the Orchestra"?

Retired?  Enjoy music?   Organisational skills?  We need you!
A "Friend" is a non-playing member.

The Friend's Membership is £5.00 per annum.

Orchestra members need not play an instrument!  All you need is an interest in music.  You could attend occasional rehearsals and help with the organisation and work of the orchestra as a non-playing member.  In this way, you will make new friends, learn more about music appreciation, and support community music making.

Rehearsing at Upleadon Village Hall (April, 2008)
